Controlled vehicular passage on the Putumayo-Nariño road in the municipality of Santiago

Neiva

The winter recorded in upper, middle and lower Putumayo has been harsh for the residents of the area, leaving losses in crops, aqueducts, homes, roads, vehicular bridges, and educational institutions. The authorities call on the state at all levels to address social, economic and humanitarian calamity.

According to the Putumayo Police, I inform all road actors and the community in general that the Pasto-Mocoa road has been completely closed, this due to the loss of the bench at kilometer 49 of the sector known as Río Putumayo, sector of the Santiago municipality – Putumayo. That is why patience and great caution have been requested, since INVIAS personnel are waiting for the rains to stop to be able to intervene in critical points and enable this important road section.

The damage also includes the wastewater treatment plant in the municipality of Santiago. Mayor Franky Benavidez stated that “this fact that had never occurred, something similar, we already looked at the treatment system that is practically flooded, the engines and everything is completely covered,” the president concluded.

The emergency in the municipality of Santiago was recorded since last Sunday, June 16, leaving a good stretch of the road between Putumayo and Nariño, in poor condition.
