‘Come back and play’ the citizens and authorities of Ibagué reiterate the call not to leave candles lit inside homes, as fires continue to occur due to this practice. On this occasion, the past Tuesday June 22, The Ibagué Fire Department responded to a fire inside a home in commune nine of the capital of Tolima.

According to the Firefighters’ report, the emergency occurred on the ninth floor of a complex, where at the time the fire started there were several candles on and there were no no person in the property.

Given this fact, the Firefighters called on citizens to avoid leaving candles lit in their homes, especially when they are not present. They also invited the community to report any emergency to the line 123 Police National.
Finally, they recommended that in the case of lighting a candle, keep in mind that should not be near fanscurtains, stoves or any other element that could generate an emergency.
Emergency of April 22 in Piedra Pintada
The emergency, which occurred on the sixth floor of a complex, occurred around 5:30 in the morning on April 22 of this year in an apartment in the neighborhood Painted Stone.
For his part, Jean Pineda, director of the city’s Fire Department, said that it was “a structural fire” and that at the time it occurred “there was no “They found people inside the house.”
The Mayor’s Office of Ibagué confirmed that the fire was caused by “a candle lit on a Santeria altar.” The images of the conflagration show that there were religious figures.
