The Federal Court of Gualeguaychu, led by Judge Hernán Viri, carried out several raids to disrupt the operation of a criminal organization dedicated to smuggling of goods that used boats to cross from Entre Ríos to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
The gang clandestinely sold different products or merchandise, including: fish, cigarettes of apocryphal brands, clothing, footwear, deodorants, repellents, weapons, household appliances, etc.; and charging for it in dollars.
Mega operation for smuggling in Entre Ríos: 9 arrested and 2 fugitives
The procedures were carried out simultaneously to disrupt the operation of the criminal organization – there were 18 in total. Most of them in the town of Villa Paranacito and, also, in Ceibas, Gualeguaychú and the province of Buenos Aires.
With a large movement of personnel from the intervening force – around 150 people – the Paranacito Prefecture of the Argentine Naval Prefecture – arrested 9 people who are held incommunicado waiting for them to give a statement before the Court. There are still 2 people who are fugitives to be arrested.
The raids were successful since a lot of information relevant to the case was seized, including: nearly 50 cell phones, several trucks, cars and boats, weapons of various calibers, a large number of sneakers, apocryphal clothing and watches, cash – pesos and dollars, published NOW The Day.
