He was hanging from a harness, when he accidentally touched a medium voltage electrical cable.
QUILLOTA.- A 48-year-old man died this Thursday, June 27 at the access to La Palma, after having suffered an electric shock while working, hanging with a harness and a rope, from a billboard.
Between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., teams from Samu Base Quillota and the Quillota Fire Department attended rescue him, after receiving an alert from witnesses who noticed the presence of a column of smoke at the scene. Firefighters had to use their escalator to reach the man.
A ambulance arrived at the sector and Samu Base Quillota officials performed resuscitation maneuvers on him, but unfortunately the worker could not recover and lost his life.
The affected person is a man 48-year-old from Quillota, named Roberto Andrés García Saavedra, who lived in the Corvi sector. He was working with a advertising noticein the Ariztia Street, near the La Palma roundabout and at the height of the former “El Silo” nightclub.

While carrying out his work, he suffered an electric shock after accidentally making contact with the medium voltage cables, which were near the sign.
Lieutenant Joaquín Tapia, from the Fourth Police Station in Quillota, reported on this event:
“For reasons that are being investigated, we remain here in El Silo, pointing out that through a witness, there was an individual working near a power line. He was working, smoke started coming out of the top… What I can point out is that he died at the scene and we are waiting for instructions from the prosecutor on duty,” said Carabineros lieutenant, Joaquín Tapia.
