High-level meeting in Tulum strengthens strategy against Hurricane Beryl

Tulum, Q. Roo.- Authorities from the three levels of Government met today in Tulum for the installation of the Command Center of the Incident Command System that will allow for immediate responses to the onslaught of Hurricane Beryl.

In Tulum, the national coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez Alzúa, the governor, Mara Lezama, the Municipal President, Diego Castañón Trejo, established the prevention and action strategy in the south-central part of the state, due to the proximity of Hurricane Beryl

Authorities from the three levels of government were accompanied by representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of the Navy, the National Water Commission and the State Civil Protection.

At the high-level meeting, plans and actions, strategies and provisions were discussed to work together and guarantee timely and safe care, seeking the well-being of Tulumnenses and tourists from other countries.

In this regard, Diego Castañón explained that in Tulum preventive actions have been taken jointly with the state government, to protect before, during and after the onslaught of the meteorological phenomenon.

“Today we are addressing the strategy to ensure the protection of the community and to provide an efficient response at all times,” said Diego Castañón.

Within the framework of this inter-institutional meeting, today members of the Specialized Operational Committee on Hydrometeorological Phenomena evacuated the families of Javier Rojo Gómez, Punta Allen, as part of the preventive plan.

Throughout the day, the mayor of Tulum has ratified his full willingness and coordination with the State and the Federation to implement preventive actions, including the provision of anticyclone shelters, attention to public services, provision of human and material equipment for the protection of families, among others.
