Planning for Valladolid: An urban festival and a charity concert in Vallsur to enjoy this weekend

We are in the middle of summer, celebrating the first week of July and with the heat already settled in the capital of Pisuerga. The swimming pools will probably be the biggest attraction for the people of Valladolid, although during this week the champion of hamburgers continues to be one of the most popular. the main attractions for locals and visitors to the city. However, there is a wide range of things to do over the weekend.

As usual during these months, festivals take over the country’s cities and towns and in the case of Valladolid, this week the Valladolid Arts Laboratory (LAVA) is offering Faro Urbano 2024, an event dedicated to urban culture organized by the Fresas Con Nata collective in collaboration with the Municipal Cultural Foundation.

From 4 to 7 July, the programme of this original festival includes disciplines such as graffiti, parkour and hip hop, represented in activities such as cockfights, workshops, live graffiti exhibitions and a choreographic competition that this year will have categories for all ages, including children and juniors.

The most special day will be Saturday, July 6, as it includes an extensive program with events that begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 p.m.

We move on to concerts, another of the most popular activities in summer. This week, the outdoor car park of the Vallsur shopping centre will be the stage for bands such as Levitants, Happening and Augusta Sonora on the occasion of the ASPAYM CyL solidarity and inclusive festival ‘Festivall’.

This is a solidarity and inclusive festival, with an entrance fee of six euros (that money will go to ASPAYM Castilla y León) that stands out for its commitment to local talent, since all the groups that will perform are from the city. Its aim is also to highlight the importance of organising events that meet the criteria of universal accessibility and that are inclusive.

And from music we move on to cinema. As this newspaper has already announced, the ‘Pucela Fantástica’ Fantasy and Horror Film Festival is starting in Broadway cinemas, where spectators will have access to more than thirty films and 36 short films in this event created by the cultural association ‘Not Everything That Glitters Is Gold’.

Season tickets are available for 50 euros and tickets for a single screening can be obtained for 5 euros at a festival that has sponsorship from several companies and logistical support from the City Council.
