Following the protests that took place earlier this week against the Transgender Childhood Act, the state governor will hold a meeting with protesters demanding a veto of this reform.

Approved on Thursday, June 27, the reform modified article 144 of the Civil Code to allow minors to request a change of gender identity on their birth certificate, in quick and free processes at the Civil Registry.

This procedure must be carried out in the company of parents, guardians or legal representatives, as established by the reform.

However, the Natural Family Front has launched a mobilization to demand that the governor veto the law.

Representing the Governor, the Undersecretary of the Legal Counsel, Fernando Fabián González Luevanos, attended to a group of protesters.

“The Undersecretary reiterated the current administration’s commitment to maintaining closeness with all groups in society, noting that it has dedicated itself to serving each and every citizen,” the State Government stressed in a bulletin.

This week, the Natural Family Front will have a meeting with Castro Cosío with the aim of listening to his proposals.
