Thanks to the country’s participation as a Member State of the World Health Organization (WHO), the country will host the Second Conference on Air Pollution and Health: accelerating action to achieve clean air, access to clean energy and mitigation of climate change, an event that will bring together experts, leaders and decision-makers from around the world. Which aims to address the negative impacts of climate change on health.

In the event, which will take place in Cartagena on March 25, 26 and 27, 2025, will also discuss the implementation of actions to clean the air and advance the transition to the use of clean and renewable energy, Two initiatives that contribute to mitigating diseases caused by poor air quality, which claim the lives of 7 million people worldwide every year due to cardiovascular, lung and cancer diseases.

In this regard, the Ministry of Health noted that it is also expected to take stock of the progress made worldwide since 2015, following the approval of the World Health Assembly resolution and the start of the sustainable development goals.
