Fraud in Morelos with a Retained Package: CES Cyber Unit Warns About Fraud – El Sol de Cuernavaca

Recently, there have been reports of fraud via text messages, known as “Package Retained” – Beware! This is a scam.

The State Public Security Commission (CES) has a Cyber Unit, whose objective is to identify, respond to and prevent cyber crimes and actions that compromise the security of citizens through social networks, telephony and internet sites.

How do scammers operate?

These scams start with a message that appears to be from a reputable courier company, informing you about an undelivered package and asking you to click on a link to reschedule the delivery.

This link leads to a fake website designed to fraudulently obtain personal information, a technique known as “Phishing”.

What to do if you receive a fraudulent text message?

The CES reported that, in order to avoid activities that put the safety of citizens at risk, it will continue to strengthen prevention.

To report incidents, the emergency numbers 9-1-1 and 089 Anonymous Report are available, as well as the telephone number 777 5 02 07 70 and the email address [email protected].
