Putin added that Russia “take seriously“the statements of the Republican candidate for the White House.

“We take seriously what Mr. Trump, as a presidential candidate, says about his readiness and desire to stop the war in Ukraine,” the Russian president said.

Asked if he had followed the US election debate, Putin said he had only seen “fragments.”

At the same time, he said that “the US is a great power” and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, so Moscow “is not indifferent” to what happens in that country.

They have a lot of influence on the situation in Ukraine“Of course, we are not indifferent to what happens there, but that is their internal affair,” he stressed, referring to the US presidential election.

Putin has said twice that the Kremlin prefers Biden to win the November elections, since he is a much more predictable leader than Trump, who took this as a compliment.
