Rome, Jul 4 (EFECOM).- The Milan Stock Exchange closed higher today, with its selective FTSE MIB index up 0.77% to 34,106.01 points, thanks to the good performance of Italian banks and despite the elections in France and the United Kingdom.

The FTSE Italia All-Share general index rose 0.74% to 36,325.06 points.

During the session, 342 million shares were traded for a value of 1.606 billion euros (1.736 billion dollars).

Investors, awaiting the second round of general elections in France and the elections in the United Kingdom that could return power to the Labour Party after fourteen years, were encouraged to buy, especially in the influential Italian banking sector.

Finecobank led the gains with an increase in its value of 2.52%, followed by Banca Popolare Emilia Romagna (2.02%) and Unicredit (1.84%).

Also up were the trucking group Iveco (+2.24%), the aerospace company Leonardo (+2.15%), following its agreement with the German arms company Rheinmetall; Telecom Italia (+1.59%), thanks to the sale of its fixed network NetCo to the American fund KKR, and the Diasorin laboratories (+1.55%).

On the other hand, the oil company Saipem (0.56%), the hearing aid manufacturer Amplifon (0.36%), Banca Mediolanum (0.28%), the fashion firm Moncler (0.28%), the cable producer Prysmian (0.14%) and the motor giant Stellantis (0.10%) lost . EFECOM
