The government of President Gustavo Petro officially appointed former magistrate César Palomino Cortés as the new director of the National Agency for Legal Defense of the State (Andje), after publishing his resume on the Aspirantes de la Presidencia website.

Palomino will replace Jhon Camargo (e), who was appointed by President Petro after the resignation of Martha Lucía Zamora amid the scandal over the passport tender.

Palomino Cortés, former magistrate of the second section of the Council of State, graduated from the Simón Bolívar University in Barranquilla.

Andje, responsible for defending Colombia’s national and international legal interests, has been without a director since December 4, 2023.

Studies and professional career

According to his resume, Palomino holds a Master’s degree in Law from the Externado University, a specialization in Administration of Justice and Conflict Resolution from the same university, and has a specialization in Commercial Law and another in Criminal Law and Criminology from the University of Medellín.

During his career, he has served as a municipal mixed judge of Chocó, a municipal civil judge of Quibdó, a mixed judge of the Bahía Solano Circuit in that department, a magistrate of the Administrative Court of that region, a magistrate of the Contentious Administrative Court of Cundinamarca and a counselor of the Second Section of the Council of State.
