“I congratulate Secretary Rosa Icela on her appointment. We have collaborated on the shared security of our nations and we hope to continue our collaboration as partners and respect for our sovereignty in this new role,” Salazar wrote on his X account.

The current Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection is a figure very close to Sheinbaum; when the virtual president-elect was head of government of Mexico City, Rodríguez was Secretary of Government and a member of the capital’s Security Cabinet.
