Suunto Q2 software update brings new features and longer battery life to the watches

Suunto has announced its Q2 software update for the Race S, Race, Vertical and 9 Peak Pro wearables. On July 3, the phased rollout of firmware version 2.35.34 began, bringing new features, bug fixes and improvements to the watches.

The Q2 update changelog notes that three new watch faces have been added, with the ability to adjust the face to suit your needs. An always-on display setting has arrived for when you’re working out, as well as a screen lock tool when in watch mode. More options during workouts include specific display settings for sports modes and UI updates. Other features include a sleep health metric on the watch summary page, climbing guidance, and Vietnamese language support.

Suunto also says it has improved the battery life of some wearables when using GPS with activities, increasing the battery life of the Race S from 30 to 31 hours, the Race from 40 to 50 hours, the Vertical from 60 to 65 hours, and the Vertical Solar from 85 to 90 hours. The step counter has been improved to reduce errors in counting, and sleep health measurements are said to have been improved for users with a resting heart rate below 40.

The official changelog is below, or you can find more information on the Suunto forum https://forum.suunto.com/topic/11004/software-update-2-35-34-q2 . The update will be downloaded automatically when available, assuming your watch is connected to your smartphone with the Suunto app. Alternatively, you can manually trigger the download by going to Settings > General > Software update.
