Turkey calls for increased pressure on Israel for ceasefire agreement

According to the state news agency Anatolia, the president said that the Qatari authorities, in their role as mediators, are applying the necessary pressure through different channels to try to stop the attacks, after almost nine months of conflict.

Following his trip to Kazakhstan, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Erdogan said that he expects a definitive ceasefire as a result of the call made by US President Joe Biden to Israel, and an end to the massacres committed by Tel Aviv.

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized the dispatch of a new negotiating team to discuss with Hamas the possibility of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of hostages.

The Islamic Resistance Movement, for its part, is demanding an end to the offensive and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, although Tel Aviv authorities have said the agreement would not result in an end to their attacks.
