Valdez’s dominance and Miranda’s perfection stand out in the MLB day

MINNEAPOLIS, MN.-

Framber Valdez, José Quintana and Frankie Montás hit their first home runs in the Major Leagues on Thursday, with José Miranda being perfect with his bat, while Jurickson Profar and Heliot Ramós hit home runs for the Latinos in the MLB.

TILES 3-5 STARS
Dominican left-hander Framber Valdez (7-5) pitched six innings of three runs and four strikeouts, to earn a quality start, and his compatriot Jeremy Peña backed him with a home run and two runs scored, as the Astros defeated the Blue Jays.
Honduras’ Mauricio Dubón got an RBI and Venezuela’s José Altuve added a run for the Astros.
Spencer Horwitz drove in two runs and Mexican Alejandro Kirk produced a run for the Blue Jays, who had 1.1 scoreless innings from Dominican Genesis Cabrera.

YANKEES 4-8 REDS
Dominican Frankie Montas (4-6) completed five innings of two runs and four strikeouts in his return to New York, and was an important piece in the victory that gave the Reds the sweep in their three-game series against the Yankees.
Spencer Steer, Jonathan India and Nick Martini all homered and Elly de la Cruz scored two runs for the Reds.
Dominican Juan Soto hit a two-run homer, Austin Wells and Ben Rice also homered for the Yankees.

TWINS 12-3 TIGERS
Puerto Rican José Miranda went perfect in five plate appearances, scoring four and driving in three runs, while Ryan Jeffers homered and drove in four runs as the Twins beat the Tigers.
Puerto Rican Carlos Correa added two runs and Manuel Margot added an RBI for the Twins.
Colt Keith homered and Gio Urshela homered for the Tigers.

MARLINS 5-6 RED SOX
Nick Pivetta allowed just one hit in seven innings, striking out 10, while Rafael Devers and Tyler O’Neill drove in two runs as the Red Sox completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins.
Curacao’s Ceddanne Rafaela and Mexico’s Jarren Duran each scored one run and Dominican Enmanuel Valdez produced a run for the winners.
Dominican Jesus Sanchez hit a home run and drove in two runs, while his compatriots Vidal Brujan scored twice and fellow Dominican Bryan de la Cruz got an RBI.

NATIONALS 1-0 METS
Colombian Jose Quintana pitched seven scoreless innings, but Jake Irvin (7-6) allowed just one hit in eight innings, with eight strikeouts, to give the Nationals the victory over the Mets.
Jesse Winker homered to drive in the game’s only run.

RANGERS 1-3 PADRES
Curacao’s Jurickson Profar sent a ball over the wall and scored two runs, and Colombian Donovan Solano had a run scored and an RBI as the Padres defeated the Rangers.
Max Scherzer (1-2) completed 6.1 innings of three runs and three strikeouts and took the loss for the Rangers, who also had 2.2 scoreless innings from Dominican Jose Ureña.

BRAVES 2-4 GIANTS
Puerto Ricans Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman each hit a two-run homer as the Giants beat the Braves.
Dominican Camilo Doval (16) pitched an inning of two strikeouts, to get the save for the Giants.
Austin Riley had a run at the buzzer and Curacao’s Ozzie Albies added a run for the Braves.
