Costa Rica prepares for ICAO air safety audit

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will receive auditors from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) next year, within the framework of the USOAP CMA audit (Continuous Monitoring of the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program)

This is an audit requested voluntarily by the country last year, the purpose of which is to verify the level of compliance with the provisions of the 19 Annexes to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

Among the aspects to be evaluated by ICAO are promoting global aviation safety through continuous monitoring and determining the safety surveillance and management capabilities of Member States.

These audits do not come to evaluate air traffic services, airport operators and/or concessioned aeronautical operators, but rather, the country’s capabilities in surveillance and certification of these concessions.
