Surprising match to headline WWE Money in the Bank 2024 – Report

Over the past decade, it has become clear that WWE Money in the Bank is right up there with World Wrestling Entertainment’s “Big Four” premium live events. It’s the time of year when a Superstar from both the men’s and women’s divisions will be given the opportunity to rise to the occasion. Ultimately, it all depends on whether they succeed.

In various editions of the event over the years, the main event has been the main event. But this time, Dave Melter has revealed that the main event will be World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest versus Seth Rollins.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reported that Priest’s title defense will close the show. It makes sense, considering how much WWE invested in reviving the King of the Ring platform in May. Gunther, who won the tournament, will face whoever walks away from Money in the Bank with the world heavyweight title.

This also leaves the door open for Triple H and the creative team to pull a trick out of Vince McMahon’s playbook. Often times under the former WWE Chairman’s regime, the winner of the contract would end up collecting the prize money that same night.

Damian Priest will be forced to abandon Judgment Day if he loses in WWE Money in the Bank

After beat Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL, Damian Priest ran Monday Night RAW as the main show’s champion. However, in the process, he appears to have left The Judgment Day behind.

Priest even went so far as to say that his peers need him more than he needs them, despite one of his two televised title defenses thus far seeing interference from his faction.

Watch Priest, Rollins and Gunther face off on WWE RAW below:

During a recent interview with The Indian Express , Damian Priest commented on the stipulation of the upcoming title match. Seth Rollins managed to pressure the Judgment Day star into accepting a bet that if the latter lost, he would have to leave his faction for good.

“I am confident and that is why I was able to reach that gentleman’s agreement, where if I lose, fine, I’m leaving The Judgment Day. But I don’t think I’m going to lose, otherwise I wouldn’t have made that bet.”

With the reports on CM Punk’s return to the ring facing some delay the chances of Drew McIntyre reclaiming the briefcase for the first time in his career and winning with either of them in the main event will give the Scotsman a full circle moment.
