  • With complete openness and unrestricted respect for human rights, the Collectives for the Search for Missing Persons in Guanajuato concluded their work in all the Centers of the Penitentiary System attached to the SSPEG.

Guanajuato, Gto., July 5, 2024.- With the widest possible openness and absolute respect for human rights, the State Public Security Secretariat, through the State Penitentiary System, provided all necessary facilities to the Missing Persons Search Groups, in order to carry out their work in the 11 men’s centers and the two women’s centers run by the Government of Guanajuato.

In total, 22 groups searching for missing persons were received at the 11 penitentiary centers; ten of them with male population, located in Valle de Santiago, Salamanca, Irapuato, Pénjamo, Guanajuato, León, Acámbaro, Celaya, San Felipe and San Miguel de Allende, as well as in the women’s center in Valle de Santiago.

For this reason, the State Public Security Secretariat, through the State Penitentiary System, has provided that the Search Collectives and independent individuals receive all necessary facilities so that this work is carried out in the broadest possible manner in strict adherence to and absolute respect for, protection of, and promotion of human rights.

The Search Collectives carried out their work through a dynamic presentation of images to share with the inmate population, in order to try to ensure that some of these portraits of people could be recognized and obtain information on their possible location. All of the above, under the instructions for the full support and collaboration of the staff of the General Directorate of the State Penitentiary System, attached to the SSPEG.

It is worth mentioning that the work of the groups searching for missing persons was supported at all times by personnel from the Government Secretariat through the State Commission for the Search for Missing Persons, representatives of the National Commission for the Search for Persons, and personnel from the Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office of the State of Guanajuato (PRODHEG).
