Gendarmerie seized two tons of marijuana hidden in a refrigerated truck

In the early hours of today, the staff of Section (+) “San José” dependent on Squadron 8 “Alto Uruguay” stopped a Volvo truck with a semi-trailer on kilometer 785 of National Route No. 14. Its driver was traveling on an itinerary from the Misiones city of Posadas – Buenos Aires.

At the time of the vehicle’s registration, the officers had the assistance of the anti-narcotics dog “Uno”, which reacted in an ecstatic manner when passing by the trailer area. This fact led to an inspection using the scanner installed in the International Center for Analysis and Criminal Intelligence Unit “Misiones”, which showed high contrast images that could be packages (similar to those used for the transport of narcotics).

The officers then contacted the magistrate in charge, who authorized a thorough search of the semi-trailer. Upon opening the doors, the officers perceived a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside and found 73 packages hidden behind a load of hamburger buns.

Following the Narcotest field tests, the presence of 2,016 kilos of “cannabis sativa” was confirmed, distributed in 1,923 rectangular packages.

The Federal Court and Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Posadas ordered the preparation of the proceedings, the seizure of the drugs and the vehicle, as well as the arrest of the person involved in violation of Law 23,737.
