Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorological Office (Omamet) forecast for this Sunday a mostly sunny sky with a grayish appearance and “quite hot” temperatures.

“We are only expecting a few short-lived showers and isolated thunderstorms until late afternoon,” the agency said.

However, in the mid-afternoon and as a result of the local effects of daytime warming, plus the dragging of some clouds by the southeasterly wind, some isolated showers of short duration could occur in different towns in the northeast regions, the Central mountain range and some border towns.

Onamet recommended that people combat the intense heat by drinking enough water, wearing light clothing, preferably in light colors, and staying in ventilated spaces.

It is also recommended not to expose yourself directly to sunlight between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Onamet recalled that children and the elderly are more likely to suffer the consequences of these high temperatures.

Monday’s forecast
For Monday, Meteorology forecast that a tropical wave will be approaching the country, which will begin to increase cloudiness, also causing moderate intensity showers, being strong at times with isolated thunderstorms and possible gusts of wind mainly in different provinces of the southeast, northeast and the Central Mountain Range; such as La Altagracia, La Romana, Monte Plata, Greater Santo Domingo and others.
