This film stars William Hurtas Jack MacKeea doctor who experiences a transformation in his vision of life, illness and human relationships. Directed by Randa Hainesdirector and producer of film and television. Her work is based on a version of the book by Dr. Edward Rosenbaum1988: A Taste Of My Own Medicine.

The story tells how Dr. MacKee experiences the same inadequate treatment he gave his patients in his own hospital as a common patient. This doctor is a prestigious cardiovascular surgeon who is quite insensitive to the suffering of his patients, until he suffers from a laryngeal tumor and experiences first-hand the importance of empathy and communication in the doctor-patient relationship.

With the illness, he discovers something he didn’t learn either at university or at work: all doctors end up being patients, and just as they treat, they are teaching their residents how they want to be treated when they are sick. When Dr. MacKee returns to work, after controlling his illness, the first thing he does is force his residents to stay in the hospital for 72 hours as sick people: ‘This way you can learn what they never taught me.’

Human life has an absolute and inviolable value. It is an enormous responsibility for health professionals, which generates a continuous reflection on the correct use of knowledge to heal and not to harm.
