  • Classes began on Monday at the Language Centre with students from as far away as Singapore, Kazakhstan and India in attendance.

He Language Center of the University of León (ULE) inaugurated its Summer Course in Spanish Language and Culturein which nearly a hundred international students from countries such as Kazakhstan, India, Senegal, Morocco, Russia, Palestine, the United States or Singapore. In addition, and as in previous editions, the language center has the presence of more than 20 students from the Mollov Universityanother twenty of the SIHS Program (with young people from Yale, Harvard and Holy Cross), and those who have arrived in León from the Humboldt University.

At the opening ceremony of the course he spoke Raul Barba MartinDirector of the University Extension Area of ​​the ULE, who gave a few words of welcome and stressed the importance of these cultural exchanges.

The professor then intervened. Matthew Deanfrom Humboldt Polytechnic University in California (USA), who gave a lecture entitled ‘The Hametes of Cervantes and Lope de Vega’.

TOTAL IMMERSION IN SPANISH LIFE AND CUSTOMS

During the next week students will have the opportunity to attend Intensive Spanish classesand will participate in a varied programming of cultural activitieswhich include guided tours of the city of León and its surroundings.

It is interesting to note that visitors will be housed in the homes of families from Leonwhich will allow them a ‘total immersion’ in local life and customs, which will undoubtedly enrich their educational experience and their knowledge of Spanish culture and gastronomy.
