Patriots for Europe now meets the requirements to be a bloc in the European Parliament

The right-wing alliance Patriots for Europe, led by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has already met all the requirements necessary to become a bloc in the European Parliament, with the addition this weekend of three political parties from the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. The last hurdle facing the alliance was to gather representatives from at least seven EU member states. Until this weekend, Patriots for Europe included Orbán’s Fidesz (Hungary), the Austrian Freedom Party, the Alliance of Dissatisfied Citizens (Czech Republic), Vox (Spain) and Chega (Portugal). Now, the Dutch Freedom Party, the Belgian Vlaams Belang and the Danish People’s Party have joined, as confirmed by the respective parties over the last few hours. In this regard, one of the top representatives of the latter formation, its MEP Anders Vistisen, has announced on his account on the social network X that he will assume the role of main representative of the alliance “to determine the position of the group and negotiate compromises with the other groups in Parliament”. Patriots for Europe now has participants from eight EU Member States and already has the minimum of 23 deputies that it needs, in compliance with the regulations of the European Parliament.
