The Mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán and the president of the CAF (Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean), Sergio Díaz Granados, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friday morning that aims to establish a framework for work between the international organization and the District during the current administration.

“We are very pleased with the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding between the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá and the CAF, because this will open the door to very significant support for the city on fronts related to mobility, gender and inclusion, health and modernization in the efficiency of the District Administration,” explained Mayor Galán.

The president also added: “This new stage of the CAF relationship with Bogotá will allow us to connect our Development Plan with some very interesting implementation dynamics. We are sure that this collaboration will produce many fruits for the city.”

In turn, the CAF president confirmed that: “The agreement we have signed with Bogotá ratifies our financing commitments with the Metro lines, particularly line 2, and additionally allows us to expand the bank’s cooperation services for social and development issues and other objectives outlined in the District Development Plan.”

The Memorandum of Understanding between Bogotá and CAF will also allow defining the allocation of international cooperation resources to strengthen Bogotá’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Cooperation topics defined in the Memorandum of Understanding:

1. Prevention of violence and strengthening of security in public spaces and transport, especially with a gender focus and aimed at reducing violence against women.

2. Institutional strengthening and generation of better management, efficiency and compliance capabilities, to contribute to the development of an honest and transparent government, with digital transformation to modernize public administration, by generating better access to virtual procedures for citizens and better data management for the planning, execution and evaluation of projects.

3. Sustainable urban development and urban revitalization, with a special focus on urban environmental management and land use planning, sustainable construction, provision of public services, urban renewal models and ensuring a decent habitat.

4. Mobility and mobility infrastructure with criteria of safety, sustainability, accessibility and inclusion.
