Authorities are offering a $20 million reward for information on those responsible for a shooting in southern Bogotá that left one patrolman dead.

The Bogotá Police offer a reward of $20 million for information on two men responsible of a shooting in the south of the capital.

On Saturday afternoon On July 6, citizens reported a shooting near the TransMilenio South Portal. This incident left a patrolman dead in the midst of the bullets that, according to an initial report, was caused by an attempted robbery in the area.

This patrolman confronted the robbers, who were armed, and the police officer was shot in the stomach. Another person was also reported injured, a street vendor in the area.

The police acted and managed to locate two men who were accomplices in this robbery and subsequent murder of patrolman Heiner Loaiza.

Faced with this incident, Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán sent a strong message to those who are complicit in this act of insecurity in Bogotá.

“One of the attackers was captured at the scene and a 9mm pistol and a motorcycle were seized from him. “I ask the police and the public prosecutor to prioritize his capture and prosecution,” said the mayor.

The police are also offering a reward of 20 million pesos for information and the whereabouts of the other people involved in this incident.

At the same time, the authorities continue to do operations to locate the other two criminals in the city.
