Atlético Bucaramanga played its first friendly match ahead of the start of the BetPlay League 2024-I.

Last Saturday, July 6, Atlético Bucaramanga played a friendly match against Palmira, in the middle of the preseason that is taking place in Valle del Cauca.

The current Colombian champion has completed six days of training ahead of the start of the 2024 BetPlay II League of Colombian football, where it will defend its championship.

Under the command of coach Rafael Dudamel, the Santander team is focusing on adjusting the physical part and strengthening tactical work, which gave them great results, with the first star, in the first semester.

Seven players have emerged from the champion squad: Fabio Delgado, Robert Herrera, Misael Martínez, Dairon Valencia, Jhon Emerson Córdoba, Emanuel Zagert and Daniel Mosquera.

But midfielders Larry Vásquez and Johan Bocanegra, who played for Millonarios and Junior, respectively, have also arrived, as well as Cristian Zapata, an experienced defender who was part of the Colombian national team and up front for Vitória of Brazil.

They were joined in the last few hours by winger Frank Castañeda, who was in Santa Fe; as well as Venezuelan forward Andrés Ponce, who was part of Akron Togliatti in Russia.

The person in charge of confirming these two incorporations was the president of Atlético Bucaramanga, Jaime Elías Quintero, who said that: “they have already signed a contract with the institution and in the next few hours the respective publication will be made” on the club’s communication channels.

Precisely one of the new faces of Atlético Bucaramanga was in charge of scoring the winning goal 1-0 against Palmira, in a friendly match.

Johan Bocanegra scored the goal for a team that played as follows: Aldair Quintana; Aldair Gutierrez; Santiago Jimenez, Jefferson Mena, Carlos Henao, Freddy Hinestroza; Jean Colorado, Aldair Zarate, Fabian Sambueza, Frank Castaneda; and Andres Ponce.

On July 13, at the Américo Montanini stadium, Atlético Bucaramanga will face Carabobo of Venezuela, the champion of its country, starting at 6:00 pm.
