The Utrera Health Platform clarifies the points discussed in the meeting with the councillor

The controversy over the health situation in Utrera is on the rise after the Citizen Platform for Health in Utrera launched the points discussed in the meeting with the territorial delegate of the Ministry of Health, with a consequent cascade of responses from the PP and the PSOE. The platform, which calls itself “apolitical”, wants to detail and give “truthful information” without interventions on the issues discussed in that meeting.

«We would like to clarify the following issues so that all users of the public health system in Utrera have accurate information, without interference of any kind.explained the Platform.

1) HOSPITAL AREA

Each hospital has a budget, equipment and staff in accordance with the population it has to serve. This is why we say that Utrera cannot be in two hospital areas at the same time, as the Health Delegation of the Junta de Andalucía tells us.

2) ¿ CURRENTLY THE VIRGEN DE VALME HOSPITAL CAN ACCOMMODATE THE POPULATION OF UTRERA ?

LITERAL RESPONSE FROM THE MANAGER OF VALME: “Not at the moment, but the necessary changes are being made so that the resources that are being used at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital to care for the population of Utrera are transferred to the Virgen de Valme Hospital.”

For all these reasons, the Platform says that the current situation is not a privilege, it is an exceptional and temporary situation and as such, it is causing an increase in complexity for both users and professionals when it comes to providing and receiving assistance.

3) ACCORDING TO THE PROVINCIAL DELEGATE, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR PRIMARY CARE TO BE IN ONE AREA AND SPECIALIZED CARE IN ANOTHER.

Compiled from the Directory of Health Centers of the Ministry of Health, which is public and can be consulted on the Internet, where it indicates that Montequinto belongs to the South Health Management Area of Seville.

«Why can Montequinto belong to the South Health Management Area of Seville (just like Utrera) and have the Virgen del Rocío Hospital as its reference Hospital Area, but not Utrera?»they point out from the Platorma.

4) ACCESSIBILITY

Utrera has a train with a stop right next to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital with 30 daily trips in both directions and a frequency of 20-30 minutes.

5) SPECIALITIES

The specialties that were promised, the platform points out, were Endocrinology, Oncology, Neurology and Rheumatology, with sufficient demand currently being met at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital to justify their implementation at the High Resolution Hospital in Utrera.

«Why do patients have to be transferred first to the Virgen de Valme Hospital so that these specialties can come to Utrera?«.

6) REGARDING PROFESSIONALS

From the Platform for the Defense of Public Health Utrera, «We have not questioned, at any time, the professionalism or solvency of the professionals, both at the Virgen de Valme Hospital and at the High Resolution Hospital of Utrera.“But they have expressed concern about the loss of valuable professionals in our area.
