Airbus’ H145 helicopter has entered the Indian energy sector with Heligo Charters Private Limited (HCPL). The first of these aircraft has been deployed for offshore transport with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

HCPL is an Indian operator offering helicopter support both on land and offshore to various organizations, including offshore helicopter services for the oil and gas industry in India. The entry of the H145 into offshore operations comes six months after HCPL signed a comprehensive hourly services contract with Airbus for six H145 helicopters in January 2024. HCPL will use these helicopters to transport ONGC personnel and materials to offshore locations in the subcontinent.

Nayan Jagjeevan, President and Managing Director of HCPL, said, “We are proud to offer our customers the next-generation H145 helicopter, which provides a technological advantage and unmatched reliability, improving operational efficiency. Our selection of the five-bladed H145 for offshore operations demonstrates HCPL and Airbus’ commitment to delivering the best possible service to our customers.” Offering the best product to the Indian offshore sector“, ensuring both safety and operational efficiency. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Airbus as we introduce the H145 into service with ONGC.”

Sunny Guglani, Head of India and South Asia, Airbus Helicopters, commented: “Today marks a significant milestone for the H145 in India, as it embarks on a new journey in providing offshore transportation for the Indian energy industry. We are honoured by HCPL’s trust in us, as we become the launch customer for the H145 in oil and gas operations in India. The H145 is a versatile machine with integrated mission capability and flexibility, especially in high temperature and altitude operating conditions. We believe the H145 will be a valuable asset for Heligo as they strengthen their offshore operations in the country.”

The H145 is the newest member of Airbus’ twin-engine helicopter product range, Designed for mission capability and flexibility, particularly in high temperature and altitude operating conditions. Compact in size, this helicopter features a small footprint and a large, flexible cabin that enables maneuvering in complex environments, such as oil and gas platforms.

With the addition of the H145, HCPL and Airbus reinforce their commitment to delivering advanced and safe air transport solutions for the energy sector, supporting growth and operational efficiency in India’s offshore operations.
