The Casanare Governorate, through Disaster Risk Management and the Infrastructure Secretariat, with support from the private sector, reestablished mobility in the important road corridor affected by a landslide. The incident occurred at 4:00 pm on Friday in the La Vega area.

In immediate response to the emergency, Governor César Ortiz Zorro arranged for machinery to begin working early on Saturday. Taking advantage of the good weather conditions, they managed to reopen the road at noon. Guillermo Velandia, head of Risk Management in the department, reported that the rock and earth slide covered approximately 650 m³, equivalent to more than 50 dump trucks of material. The rock was deposited along the riverbank, also acting as a protective barrier against lateral erosion of the road.

This is not the first time that Governor Ortiz Zorro has responded quickly and effectively to road emergencies. Recent interventions include those carried out at the critical point El Volcán de Támara, the rehabilitation of mobility in Alto Lindo, Aguazul, the opening of the alternate route between Paz de Ariporo and Sácama, and the clearing of the boxcoulver in Pueblo Nuevo, Recetor.
