Vietnam wins bronze medal at FIVB Challenger Cup

Vietnam upset Belgium 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17 to claim a bronze medal at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Challenger Cup 2024 in a match held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam upset Belgium 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17 to claim a bronze medal at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Challenger Cup 2024 in a match held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

This is the best result ever achieved by the Indochinese country in an event of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

Vietnam eliminated hosts Philippines 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 in the quarter-finals but lost 19-25, 14-25, 19-25 to world No. 16 Czech Republic in the semi-finals.

The bronze medal win made Vietnam the only Asian team on the world podium and jumped to 32nd in the world, the highest position ever achieved by the team.

Later, the Czech Republic dominated Puerto Rico 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18 to take home the Challenger Cup trophy./.
