Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez and the clause that could lead to his departure from Red Bull | TUDN Formula 1

According to the specialist motorsport media, Red Bull has a clause in the Guadalajara driver’s contract that would be linked to his performance on the track.

The same says, according to this medium, that if after the Belgian Grand PrixAt the end of July the gap between Max Verstappen and Checo in the drivers’ standings is more than 100 points, Red Bull could unilaterally break the Mexican contract.

After the bad weekend at Silverstone, the gap between the two drivers is 137 points, so it seems more than difficult for Checo to reduce that difference to less than 100 this month, which would leave Red Bull with the power to activate that clause if they consider that the Mexican is not meeting their expectations.

For now, the Mexican’s first goal is to achieve good results in the races Hungary and Belgium to calm the waters at Red Bull and reach the summer break under different circumstances.

What is clear is that with this clause Checo’s future is in Red Bull’s hands and not his.
