Recent analyses of wastewater from 88 cities in the block revealed an unprecedented increase in the spread of this scourge in the region.

The samples, collected over a week between March and May 2023, showed traces of cocaine, amphetamine and methamphetamine, as well as ketamine.

The most widely consumed narcotic in Europe was cannabis, with eight percent of people aged between 15 and 64 affected.
