Child under two years old dies in tragic accident in Francisco I. Madero

On Monday afternoon, a two-year-old boy lost his life after the vehicle in which he was traveling with his family was hit by another vehicle. The child was taken by Red Cross paramedics to a local hospital, but unfortunately, the doctors declared him dead.

The call was received by the emergency services around 4:00 p.m. on Monday. It indicated that a serious accident had occurred on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, at the entrance to the city of Francisco I. Madero, in which several people were injured.

Immediately, a significant mobilization of personnel from the Red Cross, Firefighters, Civil Protection, public security and Traffic and Roads elements was generated, which located two severely damaged vehicles on the aforementioned boulevard, right at the height of the Marrufo hotel.

The vehicles involved are: a green Mitsubishi Guayin pickup truck, driven by Luis Gabriel, 51 years old, who said his address was in the Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood in Francisco I. Madero, and a white Chevrolet Aveo, where Mauricio, 30 years old, was at the wheel, accompanied by his son and another relative, whom authorities confirmed all have their address in the Villa de la Sierra neighborhood, in the municipality of Torreón.

According to initial investigations, the incident occurred due to the lack of caution of the truck driver, who reportedly lost control of the vehicle, hit a light and jumped over the median strip, causing him to be thrown into the opposite lane and crash head-on into the Aveo.

Due to the strong collision, both units ended up practically destroyed from the front and the occupants of both units were severely injured, so they were transferred by rescuers to Rural Hospital number 20, of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

The staff of the medical institution requested the presence of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) regarding the death of the minor, who was identified as Francisco, two years old.

The minor’s body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for the performance of the legal autopsy and to determine precisely the causes of his death, although the first reports indicate that he suffered a strong blow to the head.

After the accident was reported to the expert staff, it was ordered that the vehicles involved in the accident were towed to the city impound lot.

Finally, authorities did not confirm whether the injured were transferred to a hospital in the city of Torreón to receive better care.
