Following the intervention of the Attorney General’s Office, the mayor of Valledupar, Ernesto Miguel Orozco, and the director of the Autonomous Corporation of Cesar (Corpocesar), Adriana Margarita García, must urgently begin the recovery and decontamination of the Guatapurí River basin.

Likewise, send precise information about critical sites for the disposal of construction and demolition waste in the area of ​​the city’s tributary; so that later and in joint work with the National Police, the area is secured with permanent patrols and the installation of a CAI. Local authorities were also asked to put into operation all the sites planned for the disposal of garbage and debris in the area, accompanied by educational campaigns to publicize the damage caused to the ecosystem by the inappropriate use of waste. Finally, the second instance ruling of the Council of State also specified the urgent need to develop and implement a plan to decontaminate the river in which results are evident in the medium and long term; as well as to advance coercive measures and decisions for citizens who persist in poisoning the river.
