The current head of the Ministry of the Interior, Luisa Maria Mayor Lujandoes not rule out that it may be the new Morena leaderthe party in which Andrés Manuel López Obrador became president and which would place the first woman in that highest position.

“It would be an honor for me to preside over Morena, to be able to work on consolidating the party, to be able to work so that it is a tool that lasts for many years, that it is a tool of struggle, a tool of defense, of justice, of democracy, of rights.”

He spoke of the love he has for the party, in which he has been a member since he was young and since the party was beginning to lay its foundations. He said that Morena is and has been a feat, as it is capable of hosting people of different ages and different ideologies.

“Morena is and has been a feat, it is much more than a party, it is something extraordinary, it is a true, living movement, where people of different currents of thought, of different cultures, of different ages fit in.”

In this regard, he pointed out that for this reason we must be very careful with Morena, because it must not be seen only as a machine for winning elections, but as a space in which citizens can be heard and public debates can be organized.

He believes that the main objective must continue to be to stay close to the people.

After announcing that Mario Delgado will be the new owner of the Secretary of Public Education (SEP), the vacancy to lead Morena is free and with it, some names emerged; however, it is the first time that Mayor Lujan makes it official.
