July 9th. The traveling exhibition “The path of art in the eight regions”, by the Guiexhuuba (Corn Flower) collective, will be inaugurated on July 13 at the San Juan Bautista Coixtlahuaca Museum.

The representative of the collective, Israel Manuel Teodoro, commented that the 27 participating artists are originally from one of the towns in the eight regions of the state, and others from Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz.

He mentioned that most of the works reflect the customs, traditions and culture of each community from which the artist comes.

He said that the group was born ten years ago in the Port of Salina Cruz due to the need for exhibition spaces. In response, they decided to go out and exhibit their art outside the town, and later artists from other regions and entities joined them.

“We started with a general invitation through the collective’s Facebook page. At the beginning, the invitation was general and that was when we started to meet friends from other states. In the exhibitions that we are asked to do, they regularly ask us if we are all from Oaxaca; when that part comes up, we select Oaxacan painters; when they don’t make that comment, all the artists are included,” he added.

Manuel Teodoro indicated that they have exhibited in the states of Puebla, Chiapas and Guerrero, as well as in the United States of America and Italy.
