What the critics said
At the time of the premiere, critics pointed to the disappointment generated by the return of this saga. From OtroCines they were not lapidary and assessed: “Without being a bad movie, it doesn’t allow us to have too much hope for a healthy continuity. (…) A return without (or very little) glory for a franchise that is reborn again and again.”
From Clarín they added: “She never takes herself too seriously.(…) There is also a flash of profound transcendence, as when it is asked what the difference is between a soldier and a murderer. Asking for more is asking for too much.“.
Among the reviews that were kind to the film is that of The Hollywood Reporter: “Bigger, meaner, bloodier and more entertaining (…) It largely pays off due to its snappy dialogue, its vulgar gags and the ironic camaraderie of the cast.”
Finally, Variety completely disapproved of the return of The predator: “It’s an energetic and exhausting mess in which a coherent plot and credible characters were not on the crowded menu (…) It’s stupid and borders on meaningless.“.
