Jessica Rothe has revealed that Christopher Landon has everything planned and a third film is closer than ever

Christopher Landon would already have everything ready to shoot a third feature film and finish the trilogy horror type ‘Trapped in time’ that began with the soft ‘Happy day of your death’. Jessica Rothe played a member of the Tree Gelbman sorority, who relives her own murder day after day. The first film grossed $125 million at the global box office and the sequel grossed $64, so the upcoming green light would not be strange.

Rothe has revealed that there is news about a third installment:

“Well, today I can say that Chris Landon has everything prepared from top to bottom. We just have to wait for Blumhouse and Universal to get their act together, but I have my fingers crossed. I think Tree deserves its third and final chapter to put an end to it.” end, or a new beginning, to that incredible character and to the franchise.

But these news are not new, since Landon told IndieWire in 2023 that had submitted “the entire” third film to Universal.

“I have a whole movie! It’s not even an idea. I pitched the whole movie to Universal and they loved it. That was the fun part. They said, ‘Oh my God, it’s so unexpected and so cool.’ It doesn’t depend, it’s not set in the same day as the previous films, so it could be done now, or in two or three years. But the most complicated thing too, and to be fair to them, it is a bigger idea than the previous two films, like that. which would be a more expensive film.”

Furthermore, he added that Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, I wanted to participate in the production in some way:

“They were like, oh, let’s make this an event for our streaming platform, which made a lot of sense to me, but then that emphasis strangely faded. Jessica Rothe and I have talked about it a lot publicly, about how much we want Jason Blum has also talked about it a lot. But I think it’s been very difficult to get the studio excited, it’s a business and they do what they do, but we’re all here and willing to do it.
