After Harry Potter on HBO and Twilight, The Maze Runner is the next adaptation that will return after several years in the shadows

Remakes and reboots of different film sagas seem to be common these days. After the announcement of the Harry Potter series on HBO and the Twilight anime, 20th Century Studios has decided to join in by bringing back a franchise that caused a sensation a decade ago.

According to the American media The Hollywood Reporter, the Disney-owned studio has given the green light to the reboot of The Maze Runneradaptation of one of the most successful teenage book sagas of recent decades.

The report mentions that the information provided by those involved is somewhat confusing. They affirm that it is not a remake of the original films nor a continuation of the trilogy launched 10 years ago, but rather a completely new story that will incorporate elements present in previous installments.

In production will be Wes Ball, original director of the trilogy and filmmaker in charge of the live-action The Legend of Zelda. Additionally, Fox is in negotiations to hire Jack Pagle, known for his work as a screenwriter on Alien: Covenant. It has not yet been announced who the director will be, nor is there a planned release date, so we will have to wait for new leaks or official information from the company.
