In 2025 we are going to have a scary time at the cinema because the premieres of eight highly anticipated horror films have been set, although only two of them are originals. Starting at the end, the sequel to ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ (the most successful genre film of 2023) was announced at CinemaCon in April without a release date, but has been chosen to close the year: Universal and Blumhouse plan to bring it to theaters on December 5and will be directed again by Emma Tammi and with Josh Hutcherson again leading the cast.

Things are worse for poor M3GAN. After seeing its sequel delayed, ‘M3GAN 2.0’ suffers a new change in the calendar: goes from May 16 to June 27, 2025, sharing launch with Disney’s live action ‘Moana’. And what else does that date sound familiar to you? Well, it is the one that Universal had reserved for ‘Black Phone 2’, which moves to October 17 (also 2025).

The expanding James Wan universe

Without changing production companies, although they did change distributors (it seems that Blumhouse has a monopoly on horror), Also a new film in the ‘Insidious’ franchise will premiere in 2025. According to Deadline, Sony has chosen August 29, 2025 to leave us glued to the seats with fear and not heat. This installment will be the sixth in the saga and is a different title from the spin-off directed by Jeremy Slater and starring Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani that we had already told you about here.

From the little that is known, we understand that this film, which for now we will call ‘Insidious 6’, It will not star the Lambert family, but it will have a lot to do with the Beyond that tormented them so much.

And since we’re talking about horror, other titles that have undergone changes to the calendar or have gotten a release date are: the new film ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ (Sony) directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, which will be released through Columbia Pictures on July 18, 2025; ‘The Woman in the Yard’ (Universal), which will hit theaters on March 28, 2025; ‘Drop’, by Christopher Landon, which we will see on April 22; and ’28 Years Later’ (Sony), which will try to give us its zombie virus on June 20, 2025.
