After ‘Daggers in the Back’ and ‘Glass Onion’, Daniel Craig will once again step into the shoes of Benoit Blanc in ‘Wake Up Dead Man’

Two years have not yet passed since the premiere of ‘Glass Onion’, but Every day that passes since then we miss good old Benoit Blanc a little more. If this is your case, I bring very good news, because Rian Johnson has just announced on his account https://twitter.com/rianjohnson/status/1794005920898502741?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1794005920898502741%7Ctwgr%5E60f06deb0324cf4af00bedcc31d5516d4dc559e4%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvariety.com%2F2024%2Ffilm%2Fnews%2Fknives-out-3-title-wake-up-dead-man-2025-release-1236015553%2F that the third installment of ‘Daggers in the Back’ is already underway, revealing its title and giving a release date—not too specific, mind you—.

Wake up, stiff

The director got on the fandom’s nerves this morning, when he posted a tweet with a photo of a Pokémon Go egg in the process of hatching. Far from working on an adaptation of the Nintendo and Niantic video game, what he was incubating was the new ‘Knives Out’, which will be titled ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ and that it will come to Netflix—and, hopefully, to some movie theaters— throughout next 2025.

The good news has come through a 45-second video in which Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc can be heard referring to the two previous titles with the following phrase: “First the knives came out. Then, pay attention, the glass broke. But my most dangerous almost is about to be revealed”. Without a doubt, a message as enigmatic as one would expect from the character.

Later, the filmmaker gave some more clues about what could await us in ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ and, just as he did in ‘Daggers in the Back’ and ‘Glass Onion’, promises to give another twist to the subgenre of whodunnit.

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and exploring that range is one of the most exciting things about making whodunnits. Benoit Blanc. We’re about to go into production on the third, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s headed.”

Everything seems to indicate that Rian Johnson, after having directed the best ‘Star Wars’ film and revolutionizing the murder mystery twice, is going to do it for the third time. We don’t deserve this man.
