It has been revealed that rapper Sik-K turned himself in to the police for drug use in January this year.
On April 29, TenAsia reported that the rapper in his 30s who turned himself in to police in January for using drugs was Sik-K. At that time, the identity of the person who turned himself in was not made public as the case was still in the investigation stage before indictment. The report also included that the result of a detailed analysis test carried out during the police investigation by the National Forensic Service came back positive for marijuana.
In response to the report, Sik-K’s legal representative issued an official statement clarifying the misinformation being reported. They said, “Sik-K did not go to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul under the influence of alcohol. “His behavior in going to the police was not due to drug use but to delirium after surgery.”
According to the statement, Sik-K underwent surgery under general anesthesia for treatment of a shoulder rotator cuff injury sustained while serving in the military, and was prescribed sleeping pills until he was discharged from the hospital on the 18th. on January 19, 2024, causing symptoms of delirium around the morning of January 19, 2024 that caused him to leave home.
Sik-K’s legal representative emphasized: “Sik-K has accepted the charges of simple possession of marijuana and smoking, and admits to these charges. No no component of Philopon (a form of methamphetamine) in Sik-K hair test results presented during the investigation.”
On April 18, the Yongsan Police Station transferred Sik-K to the Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office without arrest on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Law.
Sik-K is a rapper who became widely known through season 4 of Mnet’s hip hop survival show “Show Me the Money.” After break away of H1GHR MUSIC, Sik-K established his own label KC, an acronym for “Kwon Min Shik (Sik-K’s real name)”, in 2023.
