The documentary of ALIEN WEAPONRY “Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara” will premiere on June 6 at the Village East Cinema as part of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

The documentary has been directed by Kent Belcher and produced by Nigel McCulloch, and reviews the band’s career from its beginnings to the present. Characters such as the LAMB OF GOD singer appear in the feature film Randy Blythe, Chuck Billy TESTAMENT or Joe and Mario Duplantier by GOJIRA.

“We’re so excited to finally share with you this documentary we’ve been working on for years. The film captures our journey navigating the world of music, showing the highlights, the struggles, and everything in between.”

Director Kent Belcher adds:
“After six years of traveling, living and filming with the ALIEN WEAPONRY family, finally being able to share that with the public and showcase Māori culture in a vibrant and sincere way is very rewarding. Having my first film as a director premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival is an absolute dream come true.

What our film does is show the family aspect. The ups and downs, the stresses of being on a trip with your family and then moving forward because you all have a common goal. They are an incredible and powerful group of people and they have taught me so much. I am very privileged to be part of this. I can’t put into words how lucky I am to have met these people, to be able to film them and then to be able to learn things about myself. Honestly, it has been the best experience of my life.”

“Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara” is an intimate portrait of the six most important years in the life of this band and, in particular, of the two brothers who form the core of the band, since the release of their debut album, Tū, like taking his music to the world, touring Australasia, Europe and America. It’s an insight into the impact that constant touring, teenage angst, and music-making have had on the children and families around them.

The band released their latest album “Tangaroa” on September 17, 2022 through Napalm Records.
