Lenny Kravitz and his big hit made in 5 minutes

One of the successes that marked the New Yorker’s career was ““Are You Gonna Go My Way”. Song It has been playing on the radio for more than 30 years of the world.

With such a level of success, one might expect that the song has been meticulously created. However, Lenny Kravitz confessed that just a few minutes in the studio was enough.

“’‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ happened in five minutes”Lenny Kravitz said in 2019. “The recording was done in five minutes because there was another group preparing for the next session. Because even after making my third album, I still couldn’t have the studio to myself.”

“So The next group was already waiting in the hallway and got a little angry. ’cause we were probably over by like 15 minutes,” he added. “And we had to record that real quick and run out and I had no idea what I had. No ideaKravitz stated.

“I took the cassette home, and I wrote the lyrics and the melody. And then I came back the next day and sang the song” added Lenny Kravitz. “Then, even though I looked into it, I still had no idea what I had. I had no idea it was going to be ‘that’ song, you know?“.

“What I like about the first takes is that the person doesn’t think too much yet“added Kravitz. “It’s really instinctive. People say, ‘Oh, okay, well, I could have done this or that.’ And I feel the same way, but I notice that when I allow musicians, whether it’s me or Craig (Ross) or a trumpeter – playing a solo to do it again, nine times out of 10 we always go back to the first take” he told Music Radar.

“There’s something in that first take. Something immediate. After that, like I said, they start to think too much”concluded Lenny Kravitz. “The guitarists laugh at me because they know, ‘Okay, you’re going to keep that first take, right?’ They really want do it over and over and over and over again to ‘perfect’ it. But I prefer the sensation and spontaneity of the first take,” said the musician.
