A group of authors: academics, experts and Cuban officials with extensive experience, under the direction of President Díaz-Canel, and with the collaboration of some important international specialists, were in charge of preparing this work.

The text, which arrives in 3 languages: Spanish, French and English, from the José Martí label, was a challenge for the editors, as Ana Elena Arazoza, representative of the institution, felt.

“It was a challenge because it is a very complex book in terms of all the information it presents and also because of the speed with which we had to work, but I can say, both on behalf of the Publisher and the Cuban Book Institute, the entire collective “We learned a lot, we learned a lot about the world economy, the G-77 and China.”

In the activity – which was attended by the member of the Political Bureau and Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrila – Ambassador Abelardo Moreno, a diplomat with extensive experience and expert in multilateral issues, pointed out that “The current International Economic Order: an obstacle to development. The main challenge for the Group of 77 and China” is an essential and enlightening work that also includes the Cuban experience during a fruitful year at the head of the consultation mechanism.

Later, the renowned diplomat defined the objectives of the text. “His intention is to share the experiences accumulated by Cuba during decades of struggle for development, enriched by the Presidency of the Group; ratify our conviction of the eminently neocolonial nature of the policies of the developed capitalist countries that deprive the vast majority of the planet of a dignified life; “to capture the negative evolution of the world economy in recent decades and provide some ideas that, in Cuba’s opinion, would help the G-77 and China achieve their goals.”

When presenting the work, the Cuban Head of State highlighted the work of the team of authors, coordinated “in a brilliant manner” by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. C Carlos Fernández de Cossío.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel said that the book is not the history of the G-77 and China and does not address in depth a diagnosis of all the problems that lead to the current multidimensional global crisis, nor can it exhaust the broad debate agenda of the bloc. of integration, however, it does constitute a characterization of the current international economic and financial order, which the dignitary described as unfair, exclusive, inoperative and offensive.

To those present, among them the co-coordinator of the Progressive International, David Adler, and the president of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba, Oscar Luis Hung Pentón, President Díaz-Canel left a message at the end of his words .

The greatest satisfaction is that they approach the book, that it worries them and that it leads them to reflect “because one of the objectives of this work is precisely to help forge a global community of people with sensitivity to the problems of those who suffer the most. in the world, which allows promoting actions to seek a new international economic order with a more multilateral policy, which offers sovereign development to the countries that have suffered the most from the south.

The 9-chapter book is launched in the context of the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Establishment of a New International Economic Order and the Program of Action to achieve it, approved at the United Nations General Assembly in 1974.
