Olympic champions Mijaín López and Idalys Ortiz will carry the national flag in the inaugural parade of the event under the five rings of Paris, on July 26.

Mijaín will be the flag bearer of the Cuban delegation for the fifth time in a row and in the previous four he won the title (Beijing-2008, London-2012, Rio de Janeiro-2016 and Tokyo-2020).

Judoka Ortiz will experience that privilege for the first time when she also goes in search of her fifth Olympic medal, after the gold in 2012, the silver in 2016 and 2020, and the bronze in 2008.

Also the management of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation reported that the champions Omara Durand and Robiel Yankiel Sol will be the standard bearers at the Paralympic Games, organized in the French capital itself between August 28 and September 8.

Since the last edition, the International Olympic Committee decided that the national flags be carried by a man and a woman, a proposal that endorses the will of world sport to continue promoting gender equality.
