On September 26, Colleen Monforea 68-year-old American, Diving near the island of Pulau Reongin the southwest of Indonesiawhen disappeared under water. After 10 days of intense searching, a fisherman found a shark near the place where the woman had been seen, killed it and cut it open.. In the stomach of the fish he found human remains that were recognized by the victim’s friends. The authorities of that country are investigating the circumstances of the death.
The woman was enjoying an afternoon with friends on the coast of Maluku regency when she was lost. Her husband was also with her, family friend Rick Sass told American media.
After his disappearance, an intense search began with professional divers until, On October 6, a local fisherman found a shark off the coast of East Timor, about 70 miles (just over 100 kilometers) from where Monfore had disappeared.. After killing him he opened it and it was then that found bones wrapped in a wetsuit.
“Colleen’s body was identifiable. “His fingerprints (also identifiable) are being used by our US embassy and local government as proof of death.”noted the American media. “This would not be possible if the shark had attacked her weeks ago,” it was added. The main hypothesis is that Monfore could have suffered a medical emergency while underwater and died before the shark ate her.
According to the medium Fox Newsif the shark had attacked her shortly after she disappeared, the stomach acids would have dissolved her body and her wetsuit. “We don’t believe it was a shark attack. Mike (the victim’s husband) believes she suffered some type of medical problem in the water.”said Sass to The Post.
Friends are convinced Monfore, who the family friend said became separated from the group when rough waters forced them to turn around, was not killed by a shark. It was about 7.3 meters deep and probably had half a tank of air left, he said.
