An Argentine family suffered a tragic accident by entering Neuquén

A tragic accident occurred on the morning of this Sunday, on route T-39, in the commune of Los Lagos, Los Ríos Region, Chile. There, an Argentine girl died and three other people – two adults and a minor, also Argentines – were injured. The family group was back to Argentina and was heading to the International Hua Hum, next to the Neuquina town of San Martín de los Andes.

The truck in which they were traveling and overturned in the vicinity of the Malihue bridge, in the direction of Panguipulli. According to the official part of the Fire Department of Los Lagos, The vehicle collided first against a containment barrier and then against an old pillar of the bridge. The child died in the place, while the other three occupants were transferred with injuries of different consideration to the Los Lagos Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle lost control when facing the Malihue bridge curve. In addition, the section was affected by a dense fog that greatly reduced visibility, a factor that is considered by the authorities as a possible cause of the incident.

In the rescue operation the units of Rescue of the 1st and 3rd Company of the Fire Department of Los Lagostogether with personnel from the Emergency Medical Care Service (Samu) of the bases of the Lakes and Panguipulli. The vehicular rescue unit of Panguipulli firefighterswhile the bodies of Malalhue and Valdivia remained alert to the possibility of a rescue in difficult access zone, which was not finally necessary.

For its part, the Chilean Public Ministry instructed the intervention of the Traffic Accident Investigation (SIAT) section of Carabineros, which was in charge of the expertise to determine the exact circumstances of the fact. In a statement released by social networks, the Los Lagos Fire Department said: “We deeply regret the loss of a life in this tragic accident and extend our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim, all with nationality of Argentina, which was the fate of return by the hua huma pass.”.
