President Javier Milei described as “unfortunate” the rejection of the clean file project in the Senate, a project that sought to prevent people convicted in second instance for corruption or serious crimes could be candidates for national positions.
“Lavable. End.”the president posted in his account of x minutes after the vote result was known (36 votes in favor and 35 against one less than the 37 necessary for approval).
In parallel, the president’s office released a hard statement in which he repudiated the decision of the Senate to reject the initiative. From the government they considered that the Senate’s refusal represents a sample of impunity and directly pointed to Kirchnerism, which they accused of doing “as necessary to defend the impunity of their bosses.”
“President Javier G. Milei hate the attitude of national senators who have chosen to prioritize the defense of their personal and supporters above the demands of the people they claim to represent”expresses the official text.
In addition, the text points against what qualifies as a “political class” that “puts its economic interests and its judicial protection” over the needs of society. “The Senate of the Nation is consolidated once again as the refuge of the Argentine political caste,” adds the message.
Despite the rejection, the Government highlighted the accompaniment that the project received from the blocks that support La Libertad advances, and assured that it will continue to promote the initiative. “President Javier G. Milei will not rest until a clean file becomes law, ensuring that integrity and justice prevail in Argentine politics,” concludes the statement.
The full statement of the president’s office
The president’s office condemns the decision of the Nation’s Senate to reject the “Clean Card” project and allow affiliates to the State Party to continue unpunished by presenting elective positions despite having disappointed public administration.
President Javier G. Milei hate the attitude of national senators who have chosen to prioritize the defense of their personal and supporters over the demands of the people they claim to represent.
It has been demonstrated that Kirchnerism will do as necessary to defend the impunity of its bosses.
This decision once again reflects the attitude of a political class that, as already demonstrated by the rejection of the specifications proposed by the President of the Nation for the Supreme Court of Justice, puts its economic interests and its judicial protection, in the face of the needs of the Argentine people. The Senate of the Nation is consolidated once again as the refuge of the Argentine political caste.
In turn, the National Government expresses its deep thanks to the blocks that, together with La Libertad, formed a coalition committed to the defense of transparency and the Republic.
To those who today voted against this initiative and favor to perpetuate their privileges, the National Government warns them that President Javier G. Milei will not rest until “clean file” becomes law, guaranteeing that integrity and justice prevail in Argentine politics.
